Stay Warm In The Cold

Now that winter is officially here, it is important to stay warm.  In Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the temperatures may  dip between minus thirty to minus forty degrees celsius.  In this part of the world, We consider temperatures of minus ten to fifteen degrees celsius to be “mild” during the winter season.  Allow Me to share My strategies for staying warm in the cold.
Drinking hot tea is a wonderful way to maintain a warm body temperature. There are so  many varieties to choose from –  Peppermint, , Ginger, or Chamomile. My personal favorite is Green Tea. Alternatively,  consider hot coffee or hot chocolate. Make sure to have a hot breakfast – oatmeal is a great option.  During cold weather, your  body will require calories to maintain body warmth.  This is not a good time to skip meals.
A cold winter morning requires  extra layers of clothing , along with  extra time to dress up. If You are driving, You will need to allow for extra time to reach a destination.  Make sure to cover any areas of exposed bare skin  with mitts and a scarf.
Your vehicle may require  extra time to warm up.  If hazardous road conditions exist, consider purchasing  winter tires for Your vehicle. Plan activities around road conditions.  If blizzard conditions are indicated, avoid driving. Postpone low priority  errands.
A discussion of winter conditions must include the mention of snow removal.  If You work outside, be sure to dress warmly. Take short breaks , going indoors to warm up. Insulation around doors and windows of Your home to keep warm, indoors. For increased  energy savings consider insulating the attic.

I like to stock up on groceries in January. Homemade soup is My specialty. I  use My slow cooker for this, to preserve nutritional content.  If You enjoy baking this a great time to make use of Your oven. Cinnamon is one of My favourite spices to use.  Honey is another excellent natural  flavoring. During a cold snap I add both to My tea or coffee. A stack of cozy and warm quilts is essential. I keep five quilts on hand. Lighter blankets are useful too. Many people in Canada spend time skating and skiing.

Winter is a fantastic time to catch up on reading. A stack of books that I haven’t had the time to read awaits. Make a list of projects You have  been meaning to tackle. Keep this list ready – when cold weather arrives, take advantage of the extra time available to complete these projects. Reading, sewing, home renovation, and blogging are on the top of My list. Listen to music, watch a favorite movie, or play a musical instrument. To celebrate the true spirit of winter, I like to  read books by the great  Russian writers. When the temperature drops, many people report feeling sleepy.  Sleep and the dream world are more accessible. This is a great time to consider meditation.  Take advantage of this by getting more rest. Indigenous cultures set  time aside in the winter for family, storytelling and bead work. Create Your own personal traditions for winter.

Healing From Within

Our emotions, thoughts and words leave an imprint. People around us digest the energy We are projecting.  To start on a journey toward wellness and balance, our thoughts and words must support this objective. Common sense demonstrates nutritious food, exercise and relaxation may promote and improve health. We chose to avoid  saboteurs of health –  alcohol, drug , and smoking. Stress, a poor diet, and sleep deprivation tear away at the body.

It is all too easy to be swept up in a current of worry, anger and fear, by simply  watching the news. Violence and corruption appear on every street corner, around the globe.  In this regard it is important to strike a balance between being well informed and subjecting mind, body and spirit to excessive violence. Be aware viewing excessive violence second hand, on television or social media has an effect on emotional and physical health. Watching stressful scenes may signal  the release of stress hormones. After watching a suspense movie, You may find it difficult to fall asleep. Be a selective viewer. Sometimes the energy around us is overwhelming. Read more in the article below:

How To Clear The Energy In A Room

Self examination is a crucial step towards creating  a healthy environment. Examine all emotions, thoughts, and feelings. Embark on this process to discover what is truly holding You hostage. Keep a journal of thoughts, feelings and emotions. This provides a valuable outlet. Institutions  often discourage the free expression of feelings and emotions. Record any physical sensations along with any other information.  For women dealing with issues of hormone balance, menopause,  or PMS, this is a valuable tool. At a later date You may choose to share this information with a doctor. Include sensations such as breast tenderness, spotting, or  restless sleep.   If You are under emotional trauma, do not hesitate to seek professional  counselling and guidance. Alternatively, talk to a friend or family.  Cognitive Behavoural Therapy  (CBT) is an excellent option.  For more information on stress read My article –

How Stress Affects Our Health

It is important to acknowledge Our true feelings. Accept thoughts, and emotions. This process of this introspection is not to judge. Acceptance does not mean resignation, rather it is a tool for moving forward. Facing fear and doubt is necessary to move past fear and doubt. As emotional baggage is released, and refiled,  You may begin to feel lighter and happier. This is an ongoing exercise. It is OK to express Yourself. It is OK  to be who You would really like to be. Self acceptance is a milestone to celebrate. To be different is to be unique. I would like to recommend one of My  favourite books authored by Louise L. Hay. This book is an incredible resource. I often keep an extra copy of it to share with My Clients.

Happy New Year

A New Year offers the promise of  fresh beginnings. Goals and New Years Resolutions are a great way to start the New Year. Setting goals is an important strategy for success and happiness.  I like to focus on both long term and short term goals.  Each year I take time out to create a list of goals and objectives  for the upcoming year.  I spend a minimum of an hour to reflect on what will be My focus on the year ahead. Typically,  My goals revolve around business, health and home renovations , but this year  I will add blogging to the mix. One of My goals last year was to start a WordPress Blog. I am most grateful to have reached this goal.. Thank You for joining Me on this journey.

Clear out clutter and complete unfinished business as the old year finishes. This will ensure a fresh and positive flow of new energy into the New Year.  Pay bills before the year’s end.  There is a fresh and exciting crackle in the air as 2018 approaches. I usually spend My New Year’s Eve at home, with a festive dinner and family.

Because I live in the Northern Hemisphere, winter will be in full swing as January starts.  Temperatures will drop, and snow will fall. Indoor activity  becomes the norm. This allows me time to indulge one of My favorite pass times – Reading.   Read all the books You have been meaning to read. Reading is the ultimate luxury. January offers time for rest and relaxation. Sleep and rest allow the physical body to recharge and rebuild. Pay attention to dreams during the winter. The dream world is a portal into our unconscious mind. Indigenous cultures value the messages found within the dream world. dreams. Dreams offer valuable guidance. Learn to listen within. Start a dream journal and record dreams consistently.
