The Benefits of Reflexology

Thank you for taking the time to stop by – I always look forward to connecting with readers  on My Blog.  At the Quartz Path, My priority and focus is  holistic wellness.  Today,  there are many different holistic modalities available. My intention is to discuss a variety of these options.
What is Reflexology ? There are 7200 reflex points located on both of the feet. Each individual reflex has a correspondence to an area of the human body.  During a full traditional reflexology session, a light pressure is applied using specific hand, thumb and finger techniques. Three to five pounds of pressure is typically  applied. Reflexology is a versatile and mobile therapy. It may be used on both the very young or the elderly. A full length session usually lasts about an hour.
At The Quartz Path, I am able to offer custom protocols, after reviewing My Client’s health history record. Here is a list of areas where a professional foot reflexology session may benefit.
  • Digestive Problems
  • Allergies
  • Back Discomfort
  • Natural Thyroid Balance
  • Diabetes
  • Premenstrual Tension
  • Menopause

For best results, I recommend a series of six sessions. For the first session, more time may be needed to record and review a Client’s health history.  When a Client has health issues,  emotional trauma or distress  may be a factor for the Client as well. I focus on the full traditional foot reflexology session. All health and personal information given to Me is in the strictest confidence. Each person is totally unique, and responses to a session are individual.  However, Reflexology may stimulate the body’s systems to detoxify.  As a part of My protocol I check in with a Client to document responses to a treatment.  The Client may report  a runny nose, a mild increase in urination, sleepiness, itchiness, or vivid dreams. It is always  fascinating to participate in the healing process.

The benefits of Reflexology include improved circulation and immune system function, detoxification, improved glandular function, and increased stamina and vitality. If an area of the body is diseased, the body will heal in the worst area first, in the order of priority. The body has a brilliant internal control system – the central nervous system. It is sensitive to everything around us. Healing is a process unique in each individual.

Listen to the signals Your body sends You. These signals often provide clues to overall health, and well being. Take action when these messages are sent.   Are You feeling sleepy ?  Take a nap. If You are hungry, make sure observe a proper meal schedule. If You suffer from pain, talk to Your Doctor. Too often people ignore the most obvious indicators, neglecting the need for rest or ignoring regular healthy meals. Plan Your routines to include time for healthy meals. Instead of working extra long hours,  learn to delegate and to take breaks. Spend time on a hobby, or, visit family and friends. Learn to say no to activities when You are overbooked and overwhelmed. Learn to focus on one project at a time, instead of taking on too many responsibilities.

Balance Your Hormones, Balance Your Life.

Have You ever wondered what Reiki is all about ? Allow Me to share My experience        with You.  Reiki was instrumental in assisting Me to permanent  changes in My life.  As    I navigated through premenopause, I  developed uterine fibroids.  My diagnosis was not dangerous or life threatening, however I suffered from many of the typical symptoms of estrogen dominance. This included heavy bleeding for at least five days a month, combined with volatile mood swings. I was overwhelmed with the choices at hand. The first Doctor I spoke with recommended a specialist. A hysterectomy was suggested. I felt this was an extreme course of action. I decided to seek a second opinion. This Doctor suggested a different, less invasive options of medication or surgery.  Finally, I spoke with yet another Doctor.  I had attended school with Her in My childhood. She explained that uterine fibroids often shrink at the onset of menopause.  Because I was approaching this milestone, She suggested I wait to see what would happen, while continuing to check in with a medical doctor through out this process. This was the strategy I decided on. My next step was to visit the public library. I was determined to find an easier,  safer way to balance My hormones. I signed out books related to My health dilemma . My selections focused on a holistic approach to healing and wellness. Many of the symptoms I had suffered from dissolved as I investigated and experimented with a few strategies I discovered in My library books.

One of the healing modalities I have used with great success is Connected Breathing, also known as  Breath Work, or Rebirthing.  When I began to experience menopause. I had mild hot flashes and and erratic mood swings, because of shifting hormone levels. When I scheduled an appointment for a Breath Work Session, I had never heard of Reiki.  My first experience with Reiki was in a private session.  The Practitioner I found was also a Reiki Master Teacher. The session was a wonderful success. My hot flashes were gone, never to return.  Reiki is often used to balance the Chakras. What I discovered later was that  many each of the Chakras corresponds to a glandular function of the body. Balancing the Chakras in the etheric fields affects the physical glandular function. Over time I discovered My hormones had  balanced.  shifted, and stabilized. Each woman’s situation is unique. Take the time to discover what will work for You. As time progresses hormone levels shift and change. Check in with Your Doctor, for a proper diagnosis. Holistic modalities may be used to balance  hormone production.  For Myself, I have accomplished this using Reflexology and Reiki.
One of the greatest surprises for Me was discovery of a fantastic new  life was after menopause. As hormone production shifted, menstruation eventually stopped and cyclic mood swings stopped. New opportunities arose – I  become a Reiki Practitioner and Professional Foot Reflexology Practitioner. Positive permanent changes were made inn My life. I established My holistic practice – The Quartz Path. Recently, I launch this Blog – The Quartz Path.

Happy Thanksgiving

This year the Thanksgiving holiday falls on October 9th. In Canada, We observe Thanksgiving the second week of October. This is much earlier than in the United States, but the climate is generally colder ! Many Canadians have the experience of celebrating twice  – in October, then in November with Our  American neighbours.
Thanksgiving offers the opportunity to cultivate gratitude. Reflect on this. Gratitude creates a key which unlocks the doors of healing and prosperity. Replace stress with peace, worry with joy, and sadness with laughter.  Make a list of ten things You                love.  Focus on this list.  Add to this list each day. We spend far too much time focusing on problems and worries.

Thanksgiving is a great time to get together with family and friends for a fantastic              meal. The fall scenery in Alberta is exquisite. Many people make it a point to get away for the weekend one last time before winter sets in.  Each Thanksgiving I am invited to two different dinners. I am fortunate, indeed.
This year I plan to start My Christmas shopping early. I say this every year, but this time really mean it. Blogging holds a  person accountable !!!  In addition to this, I have         prepared a list of projects I intend to complete this autumn.
  • I will prune all of the trees in My yard.
  • I will clean out My garage.
  • I will organize the storage area in My basement.
  • I will phone friends I have been meaning to phone.
  • I will reorganize My filing system and sort through paperwork.
  • I will read a new book a week.

Taking time out to spend time with family and friends is not a foolish luxury. It is an important way to build family unity and community involvement. Too often We rush about, never taking time to do the things we love to do. Time out on a holiday weekend gives us the opportunity to rest and rejuvinate. This is an essential part of the healing process.. Too often, We are so caught up in responsibilities, We neglect Our health and well being. We choose work over relaxation, material wealth over family, never questioning our strategies. This approach purchases a one way ticket to disease, anxiety, and debt. Remember to have some fun.
